Moore Lab (3a)

The Caltech MEMS Lab falls under the Electrical Engineering and Medical Engineering departments which are in the division of Engineering and Applied Science.  Students who graduate from the MEMS Lab do so with a Ph.D. degree.

Applicants with an interest in MEMS research do not have to have Electrical Engineering undergrad background. In fact, the Caltech MEMS Lab welcomes all prospective graduate student applicants who feel that they can contribute to our MEMS Research. It is important for applicants to realize that there is no “typical” applicant. For example, graduate and current members of the Lab do have very diverse backgrounds such as

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Applied Physics
  • Astronomy
  • Bioengineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering and Applied Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Navy Architecture and Ocean Engineering
  • Physics

Students who are interested in our graduate program are encouraged to follow the general Caltech Graduate Admission process. It is important, however, to state in your application your interest to pursue MEMS research in the Electrical or Medical Engineering department.

For detailed information about graduate admissions, please check the Caltech Graduate Admissions website.

Please do not contact the lab directly.
